Grande Prairie Public Library - discover the possibilitiesHow Do I?Interlibrary LoanAre you looking for a book that isn't on our shelves? We can get it for you from another library! Our online catalogue is not only a catalogue to our collection but to the 150 member libraries of TRAC (The Regional Automation Consortium). In the online Library catalogue, use the Place Request button to place a hold. Make sure you check the Availability Button before you click the Place Request button. It is possible that the item is listed in the catalogue but is still on order. Questions? Please contact our library staff at (780) 357-7455. We are also connected to a network of libraries throughout Alberta, Canada, and North America, who are willing to share their collections. If you want something we don't have, we can try to bring it in for you through our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service. Interlibrary loans normally take from two to six weeks to arrive, but in some cases can take longer. Just speak to a staff member, and we'll get your ILL request off and running. You can search for the title online, through TAL Online and use the Request This Item button. The TAL Online service lets you search many library catalogues from across Alberta all at once, and provides you with an online Interlibrary Loan Form to fill out. This request is sent to our Library automatically. Once the item arrives at our Library we will contact you by email or phone. Most libraries will loan out their items for 2-3 weeks, but many do not loan movies, music or other formats. It is up to the lending library to set these policies. If you have any questions bringing in materials from other libraries, please contact the Information Desk staff at (780) 357-7455. |
